From the Chief Commissioner (ACT Scouts)
Vale Peter Townson It is with much sadness that I advise of the passing of Peter Townson. Peter has been a warranted Leader for 38 years, with his current appointment being that of Cub Scout Leader with the Sirius Pack, Lake Burley Griffin Sea Scouts Group. Peter will be remembered for his extraordinary dedication to Scouting. He was a selfless and reliable Leader, with a vast and perhaps irreplaceable knowledge of the traditions of the Scouting Movement. His program was very much focused on the development of our youth members, and the activities he organised were always varied and a lot of fun for the Cubs. Regrettably, Peter has not enjoyed good health over the past number of years, but remained an active Leader with LBG. He passed away at Canberra Hospital last night. Peter will be dreadfully missed by his many colleagues in Scouting as well as by the youth members he helped to guide and develop. In the finest of Scouting traditions, Peter has now gone home. We will advise of the funeral details as soon as they are known. Neville Tomkins Chief Commissioner (ACT Scouts) 23 November, 2008. |
